FAQ's
Question: I was reading about your wonderful products. The multi-purpose cloth says it can be used on 'on all surfaces except ones that are porous or treated with furniture polish.' All of our furniture has been cleaned with furniture polish at one time or another. Does this mean that I could not utilize the multi-purpose cloth to clean those items? Please provide clarification. Thanks for your help.

Answer: After your polish/furniture oil is dry (fully absorbed into the wood), use the ACT Natural multi-purpose dry to dust furniture surfaces. You will discover you will use much less polish since the 'cloth' removes dust and dirt without the need of polishes/chemicals. What you do want to avoid on polish treated furniture is using the 'cloth' damp for cleaning - this will remove oil and some polish from the wood. If you have an occasion to clean furniture with a damp 'cloth', you will just need to re-polish the furniture.

I live in Arizona and we have mostly European oak furniture (we were stationed with the US Air Force in Germany for 14 years). I can't remember the last time I used any polish on our oak - just a dry multi-purpose cloth every week or so to remove dust. The wood looks great. This system of cleaning "cloths & mops" is so effective that you will notice a gradual decrease over time of the amount of dust in your home - this system captures the dust and you wash it away in your washing machine instead of putting it back in the air so it can come to rest on your furniture an hour or so later.

Question: I can find no explanation of the colors involved in your cleaning cloths. Could you help me, please?

Answer: The material and weave for all of our multi-purpose cloths (regardless of color) including the ACTEX® Mitt and Flexi-mop have the same basic function. This material used dry is exceptional for dusting and the cloths/mitts used damp can be used to clean any nonporous surface. The colors were introduced to allow you to designate which cloth you will use in the bathroom and which cloth in the kitchen (even though when washed per instructions, the cloths come really clean - 99.999971% as tested by a leading testing lab). The colors do not identify any difference in function, only for esthetics. For complete product testing results click here.

Question: Does your product also disinfect surfaces?

Answer: Yes. The cloths and mops disinfect nonporous surfaces by actually removing bacteria and germs from the surface - bacteria and germs are removed from the cloths and mops by washing in hot water with mild detergent. A Fact Sheet with results of laboratory tests that show that our cloths remove more bacteria than bleach water can kill can be found by clicking here. The Fact Sheet answers many other questions concerning the effectiveness of the ACT Natural microfiber system to clean while using only water.

Question: Used my new mop today and am thrilled. Few questions: What brand of detergent can I use to clean mop and cloths? Can I dry them in the Dryer?

Answer: We recommend any mild detergent as long as it contains no bleach (chlorine or non-chlorine). We also recommend using your hottest wash cycle setting. You can dry the cloths and mops in the dryer, but it is not recommended if you use a "dryer type" fabric softener. We have actually found that it is best to air dry the cloths and mops. Air-drying seems to make the cloths and the dry mop more effective in picking up dust and lint.

Question: Can any of the cleaning cloths be used on wood furniture? What about hardwood floors that have been sealed with polyurethane?

Answer: Yes, the cloths are great for wood furniture. Using the cloths damp on non-sealed wood furniture can remove oil from the surface; therefore, I use them solely for dusting on these furniture pieces. On a wood kitchen/dining table that is sealed, the cloths can be used both dry and damp (damp they are great for removing food/spills/oily spots). The Swedish manufacturer of our mop system (ACT Natural Floor Package) worked very closely with a Swedish wood-flooring manufacturer to optimize the system for wood floors. The Dry-mop is ideal for dusting and is much more effective that other dusters or even a vacuum (which can scratch the wood flooring). The Damp-mop is designed to operate effectively with very little water and will remove dirt that sticks to the flooring as well as scuff marks.

Question: Does a regular broom handle fit into the mop holder?

Answer: Part of the system is the design of the mop holder and telescopic handle. Unfortunatly, the mop holder is not compatible with a broom handle. The telescopic handle is an important part of our system as it allows you to adjust the mop handle to your shoulder height which is the ideal height for mopping. This releases stress on your back when cleaning your floors.
